Our dog Bella has discovered “coyote alert”.  That’s squirrel speak for “there might be a coyote in the immediate area, so everybody get ready to dive under cover”.  When the squirrels who live in the nature preserve behind our house sense any kind of danger, they sound off (as all squirrels do) with an alarm bark.  A few weeks ago when Bella ran outside on the deck to check out the squirrel ‘coyote alert’, there was indeed a lone coyote surveying the territory.  She was hooked.

Now when just one squirrel barks an alarm, she is a brown and black barking flash….down the stairs, out the dog door….consumed with her purpose.

It is her complete and utter sense of abandon that tickles me so as she, without hesitation hurls herself into the NOW.
