As a lifelong student of spiritual studies, I have always been fascinated with the concept of enlightenment. Is it something that…with focus and practice…we can attain? Or is it a state of being that is available to us at any moment?
Animals live in the now. They don’t spend much time thinking about the past or the future; their consciousness is focused on completely absorbing the infinite details of each experience that is presented to them. They don’t seek enlightenment, yet because they are so eloquently adept at thriving in the now, they are blessed with being enlightened.
Yes, they experience many of the same emotions that we do, they feel the daily stresses of life and they love deeply. But they also have the innate ability to return to a state of grace, a place of peace and harmony….no matter what life throws at them.
I study animals….I love animals…. because I think they hold the pearls of wisdom for humans. When we open our hearts to them, they show us how easy it is to step into the light…..to allow ourselves to be enlightened.
