Hope

Deb and Romeo

“Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.”  Christopher Reeves

There was a pivotal point in my partnership with Romeo a few years ago when, after a time of great struggle I simply succumbed to HOPE.

Our relationship didn’t start out easy.  When I bought  Romeo, he was lame, cranky, fed up with humans.   His life as a show horse had taken a toll on him.  He was shut down and distrusting.  In my heart I knew I could reawaken his spirit, but our challenges were many.

After over a year of struggling, worrying and trying to fix things, I finally just caved into my hope..a faith that we’d make it if we both loved each other and trusted in something greater than ourselves.

It worked.  Today we are partners.  Two individuals who came together as one, the bond between us a testament to what happens when hope takes over.

It was the trust in “anything’s possible” that was the binding force…the glue that allowed Romeo and I to finally find each other.  I credit Romeo for helping me stay focused enough to follow that path of hope….showing me the way to show him the way.

Our journey together inspired me to become an author.… so I could share with others the healing power of the equine/human bond.

Beautiful and inspiring! Romeo’s name suits him.

    That perches in the soul
And sings the song without the words
    And never stops at all.”

Thank you Kelly. And thanks for the wonderful Emily Dickinson poem. Yes…Romeo is a real lover…and I am his Juliet!
