I recently took a day off from being with Remington. During the first few weeks of his new life with me, being there every day was extremely important in developing a bond with him….I wanted him to know that I am his person.
What was most interesting was Remington’s attitude towards me when I returned the next day. He was distant….doubtful. Although I had reassured him the day before my absence that I would be back, he wasn’t sure about me. So I’ve spent the last couple of days re-connecting with him….we played in the round pen, had extra time for his favorite neck rubs and quiet moments spent in affection and trust. Most importantly, I reassured him that I will always love him and that he is doing so well with his training and I am so very proud of him. We had good talks….good connection.
His affectionate and sweet response touched me deeply….reminding me how important it is to animals that we take the time and effort to tell them how much we love them and how important they are to not only us, but the world.
Opening the heart enough to spread the love we feel towards another person….be it animal or human….is what keeps us all going. It’s what keeps the world going.
