I took photographs of Remington being trained a few days ago. He is learning to go over obstacles, bridges and through boxes in a relaxed, confident and focused manner. This is a challenge for him….in spite of being such a quiet, good-natured fellow, he is young and curious.
As I watched him really concentrate, giving so much try and honesty in his willingness to learn, I was touched by his genuine sweetness….and how easy it was for him to be taught new things when they were presented to him with clarity, consistency and gentleness.
Most animals, when asked to do things in a quiet, calm and trusting manner will do so gladly when they know their handler is asking them with the same quiet kindness they are seeking.
