The Kindness Factor

Kindness Goes Both Ways

I’m getting to know Scooter, the horse I’ve leased.  He is the essence of kindness…eager to do the right thing and patient beyond measure. I’ve made it a point to return his kindness….giving him affection and praise as I work with him on the ground and under saddle.

There’s an old adage in the world of  horses….a belief about setting boundaries with a horse..especially if you’re just getting to know him/her.  Horses feel most relaxed when they have a leader….someone, (whether horse or human) who can provide them with safety and direction.  I believe this is important, however I also believe you can provide this structure while also sharing your heart.

Horses are the masters at reading the heart.  Romeo taught me the importance of not only giving him leadership and clear direction, but of giving him my soul.  He taught me to trust his ancient equine wisdom and to stay balanced within the role of his leader and his student.

My Greatest Teacher

It is a gift I am overjoyed to share with Scooter.
