Watch Your Thoughts

What Are You Thinking?

As I was riding Remington today, I was reminded of how very important it is to be aware of my thoughts.  He is a young, impressionable horse who is not only very dialed into what I am thinking, but who is also looking to me for a quiet kind of leadership. When I become distracted or nervous, he becomes the same thing…….instantaneously.  When I still my thoughts and send him reassurance and focus, he latches onto that concentration and matches my stillness.

Animals read us all the time, whether we are aware of it or not.  Our thoughts, feelings and intention broadcast a signal to our animals.  As highly evolved and sensitive beings, they listen first for our silent communications, relying on us to be aware of what we are thinking at all times.  True inter-species communication means going within…and mastering the art of sending pure, honest thoughts that reflect exactly what we feel.

I agree with Mary! I’ve never had a horse so I’m enjoying the experience vicariously through your writings and also applying your techniques to my dogs as I work with them.

Dear Mary and Jeannie, thank you for your positive feedback. I am blessed to be able to work with animals and to pass along their many lessons. I’m so happy to hear, Jeannie, that you are finding these lessons valuable with your dogs. And Mary, the thanks go right back to you, as there are so many days when your blog is exactly what I need to hear that day!
