Winter in Southern California is a markedly mild event. Where as in other parts of the country, trees are naked and asleep….clothed only in snow as they await the coming of spring, our trees are just now dropping their final leaves.
Come April, it’s not uncommon to find a lone, frayed leaf…leftover from the year before who is still on the branch….awaiting the new spring buds.
Winter Solstice brings the celebration of longer days..a slow return to more sunlight, and a remembrance that the cycles of the seasons are like a soothing rhythm to our souls.
The animals understand this rhythm….their lives are seeped in it…. they understand each day as though it was a Solstice…it’s a reminder to trust in the circle of life.
